Plumbing Permit Fee Schedule
FY 2008. Double permit fee for work started without permit. Minimum
permit fee $30.
Sewer Repair Permits
Sewer Repair Permits must be secured at City Hall
Building before work begins (no mail-in sewer repair permits allowed).
Before a Sewer Repair Permit will be issued, all Plumbing/Drainlayer
Contractors shall be required to furnish the City of Ferndale with
the following:

Signed, Sealed City of Ferndale Drainlayers Bond
(Original)

Signed, Sealed Power of Attorney attached to Bond
(Original)

Certificate of Liability Insurance for City of Ferndale
(Original)
All Pavement Cut Permits shall be secure before sawing
begins or be subject to a double fee. (See Engineering Permit
Fees).
All open trenches must be inspected before covering or will be
re-dug for inspection purposes.

Taps and Service Changeovers: (fax
water/sewer tap and street cut applications to DPS so

schedule applies to any new construction and to
modification of an existing system. It does not
include Engineering Permits (if required). If a
street cut and subsequent repair are required, an
additional fee of $1,830 will be added to the charges
below. |

- If service line (main to box) is lead then it must be changed
to copper. This procedure requires digging up road,
installing copper pipe and new service box.
- If service line (main to box) is copper then the City will
replace the service box without any fee.
Cancellations or Refunds
Upon written request, prior to commencement of any work,
permits may be cancelled and refunded to the holder. The
permit fee less 50% or a minimum of $25, will be refunded. The
balance will be retained by the City of Ferndale to defray administrative costs.
In cases where work has commenced and a request is received to
transfer a permit to another contractor, a minimum fee of $25 shall
be charged for the transfer to defray administrative costs.
Additional fee amounts will be determined by actual documented
administrative costs.
Per DPW
- New construction always includes sewer and water tap.
May need street cut $1,850 for each (water and sewer) unless
using one hole for both. May need water service from stop
box to meter. May need distribution as well.
- Licensed contractor must pull permits for sewer and water
taps.
- Sewer repair that encroaches side walk must have engineering
permit and, if contractor, may use existing Drainlayer Surety
Bond, Power of Attorney, and Insurance. No Concrete Surety
per Engineering Technician.
