Trees for Sale

Ferndale residents may place tree orders at the DPW field office (City Yard), 521 E. Cambourne. Tree diameters are between 1 to 2 inches. Trees are ordered wholesale from a licensed nursery and come with a one-year warranty if planted by DPW. Price for any variety offered is $125.

If purchased for the public right-of way (between the sidewalk and curb), DPW will plant the tree at no additional cost. If purchased for private property, DPW will deliver the tree for planting. Trees are ordered in September and planted/delivered as soon as possible.

American Hornbeam: Smooth gray bark often with a crooked trunk. Often called musclewood because of the trunk’s sinewy tendon like appearance. It is slow growing with bluish green leaves that turn yellow orange to deep red in fall. 30’H x 25’W.

Japanese Tree Lilac: Oval to rounded crown with spreading branches. It is selected for its small size and vigor, excellent for planting under utility lines and along streets. 6-10" clusters of creamy white flowers emerge in late spring. Very showy! 25’H x 20’W

Heritage River Birch: Conical-spreading, single trunk or clump form. Tolerant of bronze birch borer.  Cream colored peeling bark remains throughout the seasons. Glossy green leaves turn yellow in the fall.
