Water Systems maintenances and repairs 80 miles of water mains and a three-million gallon water reservoir and pumping station that deliver about one billion gallons of potable water under an average city-wide pressure of 48-55 pounds to over 10,000 customers.  Maintenance and repair of 86 miles of sewers to transport combined sanitary and storm water to the City of Detroit’s waste water and treatment plan; and of about 10,000 households, commercial and industrial businesses.

Currently, the city is in the fifth year of a six-year infrastructure program to replace 25 segments of water main at a cost of $8 million and to reline and rehabilitate the combined sewer system at a cost of $12 million.
