Contact the Ferndale Police Department if you have a complaint regarding open burning ordinance hazards found in a business. Please contact the Ferndale Building Department at (248) 546-2366 for all complaints pertaining to single-family dwellings.

Fire Safety

Requests for fire safety information or brochures or requests for public speaking to community or school groups on fire safety, seasonal safety precautions, and Fire Prevention Week can be directed to the Fire Marshal.

Juvenile Fire Setters

The Fire Marshal can help you address juvenile fire setting before it escalates into the harming of others. After being approached by concerned parents and talking with the child/children, the Fire Marshal can recommend that the child/children seek help from the Straight Talk Program () that is offered through the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and the Hurley Medical Center in Flint. This is a daylong, family-oriented program that helps with youth ages 8-17. To get a clearer understanding of burn injuries, attendees interact with burn patients. The goal of the program is to modify high-risk behavior and reduce the recurrence rate of adolescent fire experimentation. For more information, call the Fire Marshal at (248) 336-4131.
