Sports/Recreation Aide

General Statement of Duties:
To perform responsible supervisory work in promoting , directing
and conducting youth, teen and adult sport programs.
Supervision Received:
Work is to be performed under the supervision of the Director of
Parks/Recreation.
Typical Examples of Work:
An employee in this class may be called upon to do any or all of
the following: (These examples do not include all of the tasks which
an employee may be expected to perform.)
- Organize and schedule youth, teen and adult team sports
programs.
- Responsibility for concession stand.
- Handle drop in sport programs.
- Responsible for after-school youth and teen recreation
programs.
- Handle questions and other inquiries by citizens, both
personally and the telephone in related areas.
- Perform related work as required.
Desirable Qualifications for Employment:
- Reasonable knowledge of the objectives of youth, teen and
adult team sports programs.
- Ability to work effectively with the public and other
employees.
- Reasonable knowledge of the games and sports which are
involved in youth, teen and adult recreation programs.
An employee in this class, upon appointment, should have the
equivalent of the following training and experience:
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience in programming
sports and recreation activities.
- A B.S. or B.A. degree in recreation leadership or
administration or related field may be acceptable in lieu of
experience.
- Graduation from an accredited high school.
